Last day in MTC.....(must be dreaming)

MTC District

California!

Sister Moore on Valentines Day! She loves you all <3

Faith Like John Tanner

This week has been filled with the spirit and as brought many challenges to the mission! Sister Mathews has been sick, so in order for me to go out and teach I have to find a member to stay with her, and a member to go out with me! I feel that I called everyone in the ward! Finally about an hour before our first appointment I got everything figured out so that I could go out and teach! That day was a blessing! Now on to the rest of the week :)

Monday:
Our p-day went by so fast! It seemed like I blinked and it was gone! We barely had time to finish everything we needed to do for the week! Also through email I got a great Idea from Elder Jacobson! He told me about how in his zone they are trying to give out 10,000 Book of Mormons in 65 days (because it took 65 days to finish printing the Book of Mormon)!!! He wrote how they have been trying to give a copy to members and encourage them to give the book to someone who needs in. Oh and they had to do it in two weeks! So that's what we did!!!!! With the few dinner appointments we were able to keep this week that is. Some were so willing to take the challenge to pray and find someone who needs the Book of Mormon. Others...you could tell were nervous!

Tuesday:
Sister Mathews was still sick so I had a lot of time to study. I was able to have dinner with the Hasapes and bro Sanchez. They were so excited for the Book of Mormon Challenge! Brother and Sister Hasapes bother served missions so they love to help the missionaries! They were the first meal I had in the field as well! They are amazing! Tea is also really popular around here. I now know which teas are healthy for you :) Chamomile is one of them...it tastes gross! but it smells like fresh cut hay haha :)

Wednesday:
We had to go into Riverside for a training. I got three letters and one package :) The package was from the Primary! Thank you so much! I felt so much love!! On this day we met a man named William. He is 84 and loves his family! We met with him on Friday.

Thursday:
This is the day that Sister Mathews literally slept all day long!!! I had time to read, read, and read some more...until I couldnt focus any more. So I looked through our small library of movies. I found the John Tanner story. If you haven't watched It I strongly encourage EVERYONE to watch it! John Tanner was a self made wealthy man. He was originally Baptist until he started looking into the Mormon Church. He started reading the Book of Mormon. He knew it was the word of God! He was meeting with the missionaries and they asked him if he would be baptized. However John Tanner felt that he couldn't be baptized because he had a diseased leg that crippled him from being able to be baptized. The disease would soon kill him as well. The missionaries then asked if he had faith in Jesus Christ. If he had faith that the power of God was restored on the earth just as it was previously on the earth. John Tanner said that he did have faith in all those things! Then the missionary asked if John Tanner had faith to be healed? He said he did! The missionaries than Healed his leg and he was baptized that night!

I had that desire to have faith as John Tanner did! I knew that I had faith in Jesus Christ. But did I have enough faith in him that I could be healed? I had this question and desire in my heart to have Faith like John Tanner. I prayed and prayed to my Father in Heaven to please help me have faith just as John Tanner did! My faith is still growing! Just as everybody's faith should! We should be working every day to build on to our testimony! If we don't then we are NOT coming closer to Christ! Sometimes I may write you sometime and give you a challenge. I write this because I want you to become closer to Christ!

Friday:
HAILEY IS ON DATE!!!!!! She will be baptized on March 14th! I went and taught her with out Sister Mathews and the Spirit was so strong! She is 16 and wants to come closer to our Savior! AWE I LOVE HER!!! I met with William. He felt the spirit so strong! But he kept getting off topic....haha I told him of the first vision and he said, "Oh that reminds me of a dream  my mother had..." haha he is a sweet funny man.

Saturday:
The Young Women made breakfast for a fundraiser. Hailey helped with that and she had so much fun! We also had a service project for Regina. She is a potential Investigator and needed help in her yard. We asked Missionaries to come help us. Some sisters are just afraid of getting dirty...haha it was funny :) I kept trying to catch a lizard...with little success :(  We have our first lesson with Regina on Saturday!

Sunday, We just stayed for Sacrament and Hailey come to our ward for the first time! So exciting! Then we went home and got Sister Mathews rested up and went to Lunch at the Garcia's! That was the only thing I ate all day and I was filled! For dessert they gave us Ice cream and Sopapias! TRY THEM!!!! If you take flower tortillas and cut them in triangles, fat fry them (it should only take a couple of seconds), then right after you take them out put powdered sugar and cinnamon on them! They were so good! This family even invited us to come stay with them once we were home from our missions! So awesome! They were hilarious!

Oh and on one of those days we hit a pole with our car haha it jumped out of no where!!! (it was dark and Sister Mathews didn't see it...oops) We rednecked it up! the tale light kept popping out so I got three plastic bags and tied them together to keep stuck to the car! IT WORKED :) haha Sister Mathews was laughing at me...but hey aleast I didn't use duck tape! ( I didn't want to peal the paint off).

Love Ya'll! Hope that every one can Keep growing in Faith!

Sister Moore!!! :D

I shiver at 75 Degrees Now :D

Yes it is true! 75 Degrees is freezing!!!! haha :) Can you believe it! It has been 1 Month sense I have been home! It really went by so fast! I also have to give credit to the Holy Ghost about the experience from last week! I would not have found Jenifer if it was not for the Holy Ghost! Our Heavenly Father is mindful of us and shows us were we need to go, what we need to do, and who we need to be as long as we listen! However with Jennifer she keeps brushing us off..we gave her our number and it is in her hands now :( A lot has happened this week so bare with me....I have been scolded about not writing about my investigators, or events, that have happened haha :) So I will start with that.

Mel Sanchez. He is 89 years old. He was a member of the church, but he stopped going. He thought that if he wasnt going he should remove his records :( So Sister Mathews and I had to opportunity to teach him. He loves the gospel! Every time we taught him he would say, "Amen. Amen, Amen, and Amen" haha he is so sweet! He got baptized yesterday :D It was amazing! Sister Mathews and I were in charge of filling the font. The Elders told us it would only take 45 min to 1 hour.....they were wrong....the serves started at 3:30, so we started filling it at 2:30 thinking that would be plenty of time! We were taking a huge orange cooler filling it in the kitchen and dumping it into the font! We barely had enough water for him to get baptized! I felt so bad that an 89 year old man had to bend that far :( While we were filling it with the cooler Bro. Sanchez shook his head and laughed at us haha :) He also...gave me a hug...haha kinda broke a rule...I just stood there haha It was funny!

Hailey. It took me forever to spell her name right! I kept spelling it like my Haylee Bug haha :) She is 16 and knows the church is true! She wants to get baptized, but her mom says that it is too soon... :( We had a heart to heart with her saying that if she keeps meeting with us she will continue to feel the spirit and it will get her become closer to being baptized! we hope it happens the 1st week of March! :) Keep her in your prayers!! She is amazing! She said she wants to go to school in Utah...so if she does She is going to be my best friend and I will mother her like crazy, but she will love me any way haha :)

On Saturday ( I guess I'm going backwards haha) We went and "Heart attached" people :) thanks to my sister Andrea for sending me hearts we decided to make some and put them on our Potential Investigators, Investigators, Less Actives, and members homes. We got so many texts and phone calls of thanks! We had not been able to get a hold of Regina for a long time. After we "Heart Attached" here she called us and set up an appointment for us to go help her in her yard!!! BAM!! After we attached the last house we chose to walk around to see if there was anyone the Lord wanted us to meet. We started walking around the block and a couple kids were playing Marco Polo. So I started playing haha as we walking....they didnt think I was too funny....oh well! We continued around the block and met Less! We have a meeting with him Saturday! :D After that we went to dinner at Brother and Sister Grandbaka's! They are awesome! They are recent Converts and love missionaries! They fed us enchiladas that were amazing!!! and a Heart shaped cake with cream cheese frosting :) we might go back over there today to get more cake...it was amazing!!

Friday, oh Friday.... :) The Lord blesses those that are diligent....all morning, afternoon and evening no one was answering there doors....we knocked on probably 20 or more doors and nothing...we had a member come with us in the evening Sister Minish ( She is about 60-70 and I love her!) We went to a few Less Actives homes...nothing....except one actually haha but she just got home from work and wanted to rest. After we talked to her we decided to try two more less actives....first one...no one answered...by this time I am so exhausted! I just wanted to sleep! But After he didn't answer We got in the car and I said okay lets try another one! We went to a man's house that had the last name Hunter. To be honest I picked him because he was in the area and his name was Hunter haha ( come to find out the Holy Ghost was just prompting me). We went to the house...he didnt live there...but (BUT!!!!!) we Met Robin. She lives there now with her two older boys. She just got over a bad brake up and was looking for hope! She had been talking to a missionary on Facebook that is serving in Utah. He told her to read the Book of Mormon because it will bring you comfort and guidance! So we gave her a Book of Mormon. She was so excited to tell the Missionary! We are going to meet with her Saturday and she said that she wants to come to our church on sunday!! She expressed to us that she has a church that she enjoys going to. But we all know that this is the true church! Once she reads the Book of Mormon and asks our Father in Heaven if it is true....she will totally fall in love with our church! haha :)

Thursday was Multi Zone. We got together with two or three other zones and President taught us some amazing things about the atonement and sacrament! I highly Encourage reading Jesus the Christ!!! AMAZING!!! We had a car inspection and we wont 3rd place :) Go us! The other sisters told me that never happens on your first car inspection haha I'm just that awesome!

Wednesday we went and taught a Less active named Patrice. She had been in a terrible car crash..so bad that her jaw was broken...she card hardly talk and the doctors say they might have to brake it again so that it can heal correctly...this happened a year ago!! really people!! Any who because of the pain medication she is on she is tired a lot! We sat down and wanted to show her a video of the restoration, so that she wouldnt have to talk (it's hard for us to understand her). We started the movie and.....she fell asleep haha :) I did not ever think that would happen to me haha :) I wanted to laugh so hard! after the video we went to leave her sleeping but she woke up and walked us out. She always said that she loves Cheese Enchiladas so we went out and bought some for her :) she was so happy!

Monday and Tuesday I was sore....cross fit is evil....haha but I will do whatever our President asks of us! at least I will do my best haha :)

Well I Love ya'll!! Keep praying! hope to have some exciting stories next week!

Love,
Sister Jackie Leeann Moore

Part 2 of week 2 :)

haha so we made it back to the computers :) I only have a half an hour. I realized that I forgot to tell you guys about Jennifer!! and about the people here! They love missionaries here! It is so awesome we have people in the ward signing up two times a month to feed us just because they want us in their home! Sister Gass calls herself our temporary mom while we are in San Jacinto :) (YES I SPELT IT RIGHT ON THE FIRST TRY!!!  WHOO GO SISTER MOORE!!) On Valentines Day we are eating at Bro. & Sis. Granbaka's they are recent converts and have been planning dinner for weeks! haha oh and everyone here has a dog or a cat! in the house!!! Thank you dad for keeping the dogs inside! The mission office is in charge of finding us a new place to live once this transfer is over. We just go where they tell us haha :) I will miss Sister Elliott...she just is so fun to talk to! sometimes I will just sit and talk with her while I eat a snack if I have a few minutes haha :) okay...now for what you all have been waiting for...:)

Wednesday night we were planning out what we were going to do Thursday. So a normal day is 6:30 wake up/exercise (tell Lori Ann that I Zumba by myself :) 7:00-8:15 we get ready for the day. 8:15-9:15 we have personal Study. 9:15-10:15 Companion Study. Then on Thursdays we have to plan for the week which takes about 2-3 hours...so we sit in our rooms for about 5 hours!!! I asked Sister Mathews, "Could we go for a walk after companion study?" She thought about it and said, "Yeah we can go tracting!"So in Thursday after companion study we went out for a walk. When we came to a cross in the road I said, "Let's go this way! (pointing to the right)" so we went down a street. Not many people where out but we kept walking in the heat...almost 90 Degrees....ugh!!! and they say it gets worse!! any way so as we are walking we see a young couple smoking in front of a house. When the lady sees us she puts out her cigarette and comes over to talk to us! We talk get to know each other then she brings up religion! WHAT that never happens!! She says, "Yeah we were reading in Revelations 2(she really meant 12) and we werent sure if they were talking about Mary?" We said we would look into it and get back to her! When we studied it we found that it was about the apostacy which leads right into the restoration!! also in our conversation she asked what religion we were and we told her The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints! So she had no idea who we where and why we are here!! I can't wait to talk to her again! hopefully tomorrow! :)

Thank you for the prayers! I love you all!
Sister Moore :)

Second week in the field!

This morning we had cross fit this morning (that nearly killed me!) so I am late writing home! AWE my mission president is crazy!! I dont think I will ever be able to keep up with him!

Well this one will be short because not much has happened....But we are still teaching! There arent very many investigators, but there are plenty less actives that we get to talk to. The people in our ward give us referrals and that is how we find investigators! We work a lot with the ward missionaries! So if you are a ward missionary you better step up!!

Oh before I forget...Last Sunday which was fast Sunday the bishop got up and said, "Sister Moore Please come share your testimony." and He also sent us a text haha. So I had the opportunity to share my testimony with the ward. I shared my favorite thing I have learned on my mission so far and that is my name tag! Man if you think about it the Name tag is amazing!! It carries My family name (which is an honor!) and the Church's name, and Jesus Christ! I continued to tell the ward that when they have the missionaries in their home it is as if Jesus Christ is in there home! BAM!! So now everyone go, find the missionaries, and feed them or have them in your home! We bring great blessings! and I thought....how great is that, that I get to bring Christ into families homes! Awesome!

In ward conference this last sunday I learned that I need to give everything unto my savior! It doesnt matter what you did wrong! When you are willing to give your whole hart to the savior you will become closer to him! I will write more about that next week ;)

I learned that I can't email back and forth... :( So Sorry! But we have to be obedient! :) Eye Single to the Glory of GOD!!!

I love the Lord and I pray that all of you can read the Book of Mormon with an open heart, pray with and intent to change, and act on the answers you get!

Until Next week :) We will have more time so we should be set haha :) Love YA'LL

Sister Moore :)

Week 1 in the field!!

Picture of the home we are living in.

Wow I can't believe that it has been one week! Okay a lot has happened so bare with me while I try and write down all of my thoughts! So here we go....

Tuesday, January 27 Travel Day! We woke up at 2:30 AM (after falling asleep at 1:30 AM because of being excited!) got ready and were on the bus at 3:30. All of the sisters in our district were on the bus...but the elders not so much...we waited....and waited....they didnt show up tell 4:15!!!! What happened was the their alarm was set for 2:00 PM not AM :/ silly Elders...after the bus we got on the front runner, then trax, then the plane! Where I got to call my parents which was nice I loved talking to them! In all honesty it seems like I talked with them yesterday haha :) so as we are on the plane I couldnt fall asleep.. :( However When we got off the plane President Mullen was there and drove us to his house for breakfast and a nap!!! :D It was only 20 minutes and I dont think I fell asleep, but it felt nice :) after that we were sent to orientation...Where I honestly can't remember anything that was said....the oranges are good here though :) haha after lunch and them talking at us we had a driving test oh yeah Im in a car mission :) so my bike is sitting is storage. They tell me that there is a good possibility that I wont even use my bike...so I might try and sell it after the mission. Anyway. so after dinner we went to find out who our companion is :) Her name is sister Mathews. She is from Fielding UT (about an hour away from Hooper) and she returns home in April! Crazy!!!! I am her last companion because she is training me for two transfers!

Day 1: We woke up and I felt I could sleep all day! My cold had taken over and my voice was very rough haha :) but  we went out and I met so many people! We are teaching a boy named JJ he is 10. He wants to get baptized, but his dad doesnt think he is ready yet....kinda a bummer, but hey maybe we can baptize the both together :D who knows! Next is Hailey (I spell it wrong every time!) When she talks to us she says that she could get baptized tomorrow! But when she goes home her mom kinda holds her back...We hope to talk to her mother soon! Darn parents ;) haha JK they just want the best for their kids :) hmm so every day after that was kinda the same. We went to members homes and less actives home and visited with them.

Yesterday....super bowl sunday....I never thought I would hate super bowl sunday...it keeps everyone at parties and we didnt talk to a single family (except two members). so we go through all of the families on our list and just dont know where to go or what to do! so we just drove. My companion followed the spirit and parked the car. She said, "We need to pray." So we prayed to find someone out to talk to. We got out of the car and started to walk. We ran into two 16 year old boys! Talk about amazing!!!! We gave them our number, they knew where our church was and they said they would call us if they were interested! BAM! awesome!

Besides that things are going slow. I am trying to hold my head high and say we can do anything! Sometimes however it is just hard to find people that are ready to be taught....

To answer some questions...The food is about the same as back home. It is so warm here! It is in the 70's!!! Me and my companion get along great! We have so much in common! it is crazy!

Oh and my address is 5900 Grand AVE, Riverside California 92504. Send all letters here. it is the mission office and they will send me everything so then that way ya'll dont have to worry about my address changing :) I love you all and I pray for all of you! Read: Alma 32:5! :D Things are starting to happen and it is awesome! More pictures to come :)

Love, Sister Moore
